AIFS-single-2.0-on-all-GPUs
HugginFace Cultural Heritage
HugginFace Cultural Heritage creates a new repository, AIFS-single-2.0-on-all-GPUs, which provides a patch and tutorial to run AIFS single 2.0 using Hugging Face jobs or locally. The repository addresses the issue of running AIFS on non-Ampere-class NVIDIA GPUs by developing a lightweight wrapper that simplifies running aifs-single-2.0 with anemoi-inference locally on any GPUs or CPUs or using Hugging Face jobs. This is achieved by intercepting Anemoi's flash_attn import and routing it to PyTorch 2.1+'s fused attention via torch.nn.functional.scaled_dot_product_attention. The wrapper allows for forecasts to be generated from the published weights on a variety of hardware configurations.
